Traffic EVERYWHERE

I lived in the Philippines until I was 9 years old and moved to the U.S.. I rarely visit the country and the next time I visited was when I was 18 years old and stayed for 2 weeks. The traffic there is horrible from what I remember, populations grow over time and living in an island where population just keeps growing and growing is just a nightmare in my point of view.

I love the auto industry, I have a lot of love for cars, and as you know my story went from working PR in the press to becoming a test driver. As much as I love cars, WHY would people just keep buying cars where there's no SPACE for cars. Traffic in the Philippines is so ridiculous and barely moves. I have living in New York City since I had moved here. Friends from out of town are impressed of how I deal with traffic here and saying if I can drive here, I can drive anywhere. No, I don't think so. Philippines is far worse and people drive opposite sides of the street and not even following rules at times.

My blurb is that I can't stand traffic and populations with a sh*t load of cars with no where to go should STOP selling cars and / or should have a limit on how many a person can own. What's really the point of having a car when you go zero to 60 in 4 days? Just saying, just a little blurb.

Car Found In Water

A missing 72 year old man was finally found through Google Maps. He has been missing since 2006 and no one knew where he had been, his disappearance left his family with questions. They didn't have an obituary for him until 2011 until finally an unsuspecting funeral worker discovered something murky in the water and called the authorities.

The man who is in the car had cancer and was suffering from depression. No one knows whether it was an accident or a suicide.

Good Question

I still don't understand why some idiots put these spoilers on SUV's. Also why are some people on that Fast and Furious phase from 2000? People haven't grown up and still putting body kits and all these garbage in their cars. People need to grow up and invest on something else. If you're going to invest on cars, at least get a classic or a future classic that will get more valuable in the future.

2016 Passat

Volkswagen announced last week that they are launching the 2016 Passat. The car looks more roomier and starting price at $22,440 with two engine options at 1.8 liter engine or a VR6. 

“The 2016 Passat builds upon the solid foundation laid by its predecessor and offers more aggressive styling, a more premium interior, and a host of newly available driver assistance, connectivity, and convenience features,” said Michael Horn, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. “We are pleased to announce that our customers will get all these new features and standard equipment for the same price level as the previous model." via

.The 1.8 Liter will be turbo charged at 170 horsepower and the new model claims to go 2 more mile per gallon.

Top Gear Guys in Trouble Again.

If you watch the show Top Gear, they usually go on a crazy road trip around the world with crazy cars. I love the show and when they do these trips. Unfortunately, when you're a foreigner, you don't know some of these customs and history of the country.

Clarkson drove in Argentina with some crazy license plates and got into trouble eventually leaving the country because locals were pretty pissed off. Argentina wants to reopen the case and give the guy a sentence for this issue. It's been a crazy year for these guys, first getting fired and suspended and now this. Hopefully they (Argentina) will be lenient on him and get back into filming the new show with Amazon Prime.

Avoid garages if your car is leaking oil that is.

"The Detroit automaker said earlier this week it is recalling the 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-04 Chevrolet Impala, 1998-99 Chevrolet Lumina and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-99 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997-2004 Buick Regal “because drops of oil may be deposited on the hot exhaust manifold through hard braking, which can cause engine compartment fires. GM is working on a remedy.” GM said there have been 19 reported minor injuries over the last six years.

The recall covers cars with 3.8-liter V6 3800 engines. There have been four recalls for the issue since 2008.

In a dealer bulletin made public Friday, the automaker said the vehicles are safe to drive, but GM recommends that owners not park in a garage or other structures. GM is currently “finalizing a remedy.”

How is GM still getting in trouble? You see Volkswagen "cheating" fuel economy but General Motors are killing people and giving damages causing fires and all these faulty deadly recalls? I understand there many GM buffs out there who just stay loyal to the brand, I also do understand that there are good GM cars out there. The government keeps bailing these guys out with our tax money and yet they come out with these products.

All I'm saying is this, come on! Put more effort into your products and do more quality assurance. Hire better engineering companies to test your vehicles.

Google Maps Update

When you're driving with the navigation on your smart phone, you usually have to get out of the current navigation and search for the nearest gas station which is usually out of the way. I travel every day for work whether it's train, plane, and cars. When I do travel by car, I used Google maps and usually have to get out of the app just to find gas.

I am looking forward to this update because I NEED it for daily use. The update is coming out within the next few weeks and I can't wait!

Consumer Reports took off Tesla from reliability tests because of complaints with charging, noises, and other complaints with the car. It was on top earlier this year from Consumer Reports but since this report came up, Tesla shares went down 10%.

I have recently studied Tesla's marketing and how they have been dubbed as the "Apple Store" of the auto industry. They have been doing very well and shares have been going up for the company. But a nearly maintenance free vehicle, how can you fix it if it breaks down? Can you go to a trusted mechanic? The answer is, nope, they most likely need to be trained by Tesla, how can you get those electric motors fixed?

It'll be a while until electric cars can go to a trusted mechanic, in my opinion, it's more like going to a trusted "electrician".For now I'll stick with Hybrids and Gas engine cars. Tesla is also having charging issues from customer complaints and charging stations are still being made around the country.
